Hanukkah "SPECIAL EVENT"

This year Hanukkah runs sundown on Wednesday, December 1 through Thursday, December 9, and Rochester's Jewish community has all kinds of events planned to celebrate the Festival of Lights.

On Wednesday, December 1, things kick off with the lighting of the downtown menorah, followed by the car menorah parade, starting at Washington Square Park (Clinton Avenue and Court Street) at 5:30 p.m. For more information visit chabadrochester.com.

Get your helping of hot chocolate, donuts, and songs at the Pittsford Menorah Lighting Ceremony at Pittsford Village Four Corners (Route 31 and South Main Street) at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 2. Visit townofpittsford.org for more details.

The Jewish Community Center (1200 Edgewood Ave) holds a Hanukkah Party on Thursday, December 2, at noon. Light the menorah, enjoy some latkes, and take in live entertainment by Jimmy C. Tickets cost $6-$8. Registration is required; call 461-2000 x.214; for more information visit jccrochester.org.

The JCC also premieres an original musical for families, "The Night That Hanukkah was Almost Canceled!" on Thursday, December 2, at 7 p.m. The show continues Friday, December 3, at 11 a.m. & 2 p.m., and tickets cost $10; free latkes served at each performance. Rosa Parks Google Logo Celebrates The Birth Of The U.S.

The 55th anniversary of the day Rosa Parks refused to give up her seat on the bus in Alabama.

Google celebrates this day in history with a new doodle of a school bus with four children, replacing the "ogl" in the word Google. On December 1, 1955, during a time of racial segregation, Parks sat at the front of the black section of the bus, when all the seats in the front were taken the bus driver asked Parks to give up her seat so a white passenger could sit down.

Later, Parks moved from Alabama to Detroit and began working for Congressman John Conyers. On Wednesday, the Google homepage featured a special "doodle" celebrating the courage of Rosa Parks, a woman whose refusal to yield to institutionalized racism inspired a social movement that forever changed the United States.

In 1955, Rosa Parks lived in Alabama, where black citizens were subjugated by the oppressive Jim Crow laws that enforced racial segregation and designated "separate but equal" facilities for blacks and whites.

Christinna Renee Robinson: 16, Pregnant, Mad at MTV

Christinna Renee Robinson is 16 and Pregnant (or was) and her baby daddy's relatives are steamed over their recent portrayal on the show by that name.

Her baby daddy's mom, Kathleen Green, says that she may sue the network, claiming that the producers schemed to make her look reckless and cold.

Reality shows manipulating footage to sell better story lines ... shocking.

Baby Destiny isn't the only one kicking and screaming ...

In a feud Farrah Abraham can sympathize with, Kathleen says MTV "defamed" the family, and that "nothing that aired is what happened" in real life.

They say MTV staged shots and heavily edited footage on the Teen Mom precursor as Christinna and boyfriend Isiah prepped for the birth of Destiny.

Kathleen is very upset with a scene involving a DNA test she bought for Christinna, claiming she came off as a bitch when MTV left out a key detail.

"They didn’t show that [Christinna] had told us she had had sex with some other guy," says Kat, calling it grounds to go after MTV for defamation.

Analyst: Britney Spears Recording Was Doctored

The Britney Spears tape upon which Jason Alexander claims his ex-wife detailed the beating she took at the hands of Jason Trawick appears to be bogus.

Alexander told Star that Spears' boyfriend beat her up, and she didn't call the cops because she feared a leak. He then leaked the tape to Radar Online.

But a highly-respected audio expert tells TMZ that Jason Alexander's tape of Britney Spears "has been electronically stepped on," i.e. doctored. A lot.

Britney and Jason in a show of public solidarity yesterday.

Tom Owen of OWL Investigations is Chairman of the Audio Engineering Society Standards Committee of Forensic Audio. He says the tape was altered, badly.

So much so, he can't even do a meaningful voice-recognition test.

Owen says the tape has been "stepped on at least 3 times" with noise reduction, equalization and removal of aspects like timbre, sibilance and tonal qualities.

So did Alexander get punked or was he in on this from the get-go?

Regardless, the expert says Britney Spears has a "very vanilla voice" and with modest manipulation it wouldn't be difficult to make someone sound like her.

Kind of explains all the crappy Britney clones in music, on a side note.

Britney's manager, Larry Rudolph, adamantly denies it's her on the tape and may take legal action. For her part, Spears went to Trawick's office yesterday.

She spent time with Jason inside the William Morris Entertainment building, where he works as an agent (formerly her agent), left by car, then returned.

All in full view of the media, surely as a public showing of solidarity.

Jason Trawick was also seen outside the building and appearing calm, rather than nervous or ducking for cover. He is equally adamant the tape is bogus.

Didn't Zack Taylor learn from Perez Hilton?

In June, the world's most immature celebrity blogger got himself intro trouble by Tweeting a crotch shot of an underage Miley Cyrus. Now, Taylor has gone a similar route.

The Canadia webmaster has posted the following photo on his website, claiming it was taken off Miley's iPhone when that device was stolen a few weeks ago. Taylor claims the thief in question is "leaking photos online and trying to sell other ones to various media outlets."

Ojani Noa: Will He Ever Leave His Ex Jennifer Lopez Alone?

Jennifer Lopez’s ex-husband, Ojani Noa, is causing the  mom of twins trouble – yet again.

This time, Noa and his agent Ed Meyer are trying to release a feature film about their rocky marriage.  JLo is taking them to court to stop their footage of her ”deviant” behavior in public during the couple’s short-lived marriage.  Noa and his agent say they never intended to market the R-rated scenes from the home videos. 

Lopez’s first marriage was to Cuban-born Ojani Noaon February 22, 1997. Lopez met Noa while he worked as a waiter at a Miami restaurant. They divorced in January 1998.

Since their divorce, Noa has been trying to make money from their short union.  Here is a list of court battles between the former couple:

In April 2006, Lopez sued to prevent her ex-husband, Noa, from publishing a book containing personal details about their short marriage, contending it violated their confidentiality agreement.

In August 2007, a court-appointed arbitrator issued a permanent injunction forbidding Ojani Noa from “criticizing, denigrating, casting in a negative light or otherwise disparaging” Jennifer Lopez. She was awarded $545,000 in compensatory damages, which included nearly $300,000 in legal fees and almost $48,000 in arbitration costs. Noa was also ordered to hand over all copies of materials related to the book to Lopez or her attorney.

In November 2009, Lopez sued Noa for breach of contract and invasion of privacy, citing a previous confidentiality agreement between the two, to prevent Noa from releasing his planned film, “How I Married Jennifer Lopez: The JLo and Ojani Noa Story”, and alleged “previously unseen home video footage”.

On December 1, 2009, judge James Chalfant granted a temporary injunction against Noa and his agent, Ed Meyer, barring them from distributing the footage in any forum.  Because the injunction is only temporary, Lopez’s lawyer, Jay Lavely, said that he will return to court to make it permanent. Lavely stressed that “there wasn’t anything even close” to a sex tape in Noa’s possession: “It’s private and personal, but it wasn’t a sex tape. They are innocent and they have been misrepresented… to increase value and media attention”.   After the hearing, Noa told E! that he plans to fight the injunction: “It’s not about the money, it’s about my life”.

Yeah right!  Will Noa just leave his ex alone? 

Will the mom of twins win the court battle again?  I’m pretty sure she will.

Comcast Outage

Comcast’s cable Internet service encountered problems causing users from U.S. east coast cities unable to access the Internet.

According to Doreen Vigue, Boston-based spokeswoman for Comcast, the company’s engineers are aggressively working to fix the problem. Comcast is considered as the largest cable operator, as well as Internet service provider in the U.S. Providing cable television service, telephone service, and broadband Internet to both residential and commercial customers in 39 states.

Meanwhile, numerous Twitter postings point that a Domain Name System (DNS) server problem was the problem that occurred.

DNS converts human-friendly Internet address like “www.seedol.com” into a numeric Internet address. "Our engineers are working very aggressively to fix the problem," said Doreen Vigue, a Boston-based spokeswoman for Comcast. Twitter postings point to a DNS (domain name system) server problem.

DNS is the system that converts human-friendly Internet address like "www.pcworld.com" into a numeric Internet address, which are vital to Internet communications. If the DNS servers go down there's no way for a user's PC to address data correctly and so communication stops.

Preview with Sam Elliott & John Corbett “November Christmas”

“November Christmas”, a new 'Hallmark Hall of Fame' presentation starring Emmy award and Golden Globe award nominee John Corbett from “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” and “Sex and the City”, and Emmy Award nominee Sam Elliott from “Buffalo Girls”.

The movie is all about a small Rhode Island community that helps create a holiday for a young ill girl named Vanessa. Tonight on CBS will be aired the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie “November Christmas,” starring John Corbett and Sam Elliott.

The story begins with John Corbett asking around all the people in the little town where he just moved in to help him create the best holidays for his dying little girl. John Corbett along with his wife (Sarah Paulson) wanted their seriously ill daughter (Emily Alyn Lind) to have possibly the last Christmas holiday in her life before her life ends. It appears that the little girl in this movie is so sick that we surely can feel how tragic her life must have been. Sam Elliot plays as the farmer that has his own family problem with his wife that was played by Karren Allen. Elliot grows pumpkins and Christmas tree to sell. “November Christmas” is surely one movie that you don’t want to miss.

Tonight CBS will air the Hallmark Hall of Fame movie “November Christmas,” starring John Corbett and Sam Elliott. This movie is guaranteed to be a tear jerker…I can tell just by watching the preview. It is heart-warming to think of a whole town helping to create Christmas just for one little girl.
