School Gyrls, Diddy-Dirty Money, Facebook Cartoons Links

ren stimpySchool Gyrls, Diddy Dirty Money, and Cartoons are hot topics on the web this weekend! A Very School Gyrls Holla-Day is a Nickelodeon holiday flick. Real-life pop divas School Gyrls — Monica Parales, Jacque Nimble and Mandy Rain–are the stars of this fun and fluffy modern holiday movie.

Diddy-Dirty Money was the musical guest on Saturday Night Live last night, while Robert DeNiro hosted the live show. The group Diddy Dirty Money is the brainchild Sean “Diddy” Combs. I thought DeNiro was brilliant on SNL but reviews were mixed for his performance, Diddy Dirty Money received rave reviews.

Cartoons were everywhere on the web this weekend!   Cartoon avatars for Facebook were all the rage this weekend.  Facebook members are replacing their profile pics with cartoon characters as a part of an initiative  to speak out against childhood violence. The goal of the meme is to not see a human face on Facebook until Monday, December 6th.  I changed my FB pic to one of my all time fave cartoons—Ren from Ren and Stimpy.  Did you change your Facebook picture?  What cartoon did you use?

Cartoon Characters for Facebook – Pick Your Favorite 1990’s Cartoon Character

1990 cartoonsSorry kids it’s all about your parents cartoons this week!  Mom and Dad are busy reliving the days of their youth huddled around the television set on a Saturday morning eating ’sugar cereal’ and watching our favorite cartoons as we try to pick our favorite to post online as our cartoon character facebook pic.  For some reason it gives us all a warm fuzzy feeling to flashback to those simpler times of our youth and we’re taking you with us.

Here are our all-time favorite cartoon characters from the 1990’s – the era age of The Rugrats, The Muppet Babies, Pinky and the Brain, The Simpsons, and so many more timeless cartoons.

 1. The Simpsons

I know that today’s kids feel like they discovered The Simpsons, but the series has been entertaining families since 1989.  Sorry to say that your lame mom or dad probably sported a Bart Simpson t-shirt to high school back in the 90s.   Homer, Bart, Lisa, Marge, and Maggie have been wreaking havoc on Springfield for a full generation with no signs of stopping anytime soon.

2. The Rugrats

The Rugrats were busy trying to break out of the playpen from 1991 – 2004.  Tommy, Chuckie, Angelica and the crew were busy showing kids just trying to make their way in a grownups world.  No group of kids was stuck in diapers for such an entertaining period of time!

3. The Animaniacs

Animaniacs is one of those shows that has proven the test of time.  What was fun and funny back in the 90’s is now being used to teach our kids in elementary schools.  My 10-year-old came home with homework this week — he was assigned the task of watching the Animaniacs teach him about the world’s explorers.  Yakko, Wakko, and Dot, are now entertaining a whole new generation of cartoon fanatics.

Which was your favorite cartoon character of the 1990’s?

Cartoon Pictures For Your Facebook Profile: Characters From The 90’s

Doug Funny Was A Popular Cartoon Character From The 90's

We all know and love cartoons. They are one of our favorite past times growing up and many of these characters will forever be stuck in our memories.

In honor of posting cartoon pictures to your Facbeook profile, I decided to make a list of my all-time favorite cartoon characters from the 90’s – the era I grew up in. Yes, I know some of these originated earlier than the 90’s, but that’s when I watched them.

1. Doug

The series takes place in the fictitious town of Bluffington (where Doug Funnie and his family have moved from Bloatsburg) and deals with the life of the title character, grade-schooler and diarist Doug Funnie.

2. David the Gnome

David was a 399-year-old gnome of the forest. David was a doctor, and he used his knowledge of many fields, such as hypnosis and acupuncture, to heal his patients, usually animals, such as his faithful friend Swift the fox, or other gnomes. David also befriends a bird that, when he whistles, immediately arrives to quickly transport him to wherever necessary.

3. Muppet Babies

The Muppet Babies live in a large nursery watched over by Nanny, the only human character in the show that appears on a regular basis. The babies have active imaginations, and often embark on adventures into imaginary worlds and perilous situations from which they are eventually returned to reality by some external event, such as Nanny coming to see what the noise was. They are constantly finding creative ways to entertain themselves and learn to work together to solve problems and survive their wild-imagined adventures.

What’s your favorite 90’s character?

Tinkerbell images are becoming very popular on Facebook this weekend since many people are looking for cartoon pictures for their Facebook profiles. The Facebook meme has gone viral, and the goal is not to see any human faces on Facebook until December 6th as a way to stand up to child abuse and violence. In addition to Tinkerbell images, Minnie Mouse pictures and Wilma Flintstone have also been popular as far as classic cartoon pictures go.

Tinkerbell images range from the older classic Tinkerbell cartoon character image from Peter Pan, to the newer updated version of Tinkerbell from Tinkerbell and the Great Fairy Rescue.
