The Google eBookstore is one place to get the tomes but you can also pick up titles from independent booksellers like Powell’s, Alibris and some members of the American Booksellers Association.

As mentioned before, there is a enormous collection of books available for your reading pleasure.  You can go with one of the beloved classics like Great Expectations, A Tale of Two Cities and Gulliver’s Travels or maybe you’re more interested in one of the current bestsellers like James Patterson’s Cross Fire and Jonathan Franzen’s Freedom. Free Google Ebooks : The Classics that Inspired Movies

Sherlock Holmes
Did you see Sherlock Holmes? What about reading the book?

Google ebooks has a wide variety of free ebooks available. Many of the most popular are what would be referred to as classics.

These are the stories that have been told and retold, often in movie form. You’ve probably seen the movies, but have you read the books?

Like A Knight’s Tale, starring Heath Ledger, which came from The Canterbury Tales. Even if it’s a bit of a stretch and not a close adaptation, it’s still where the roots of the movie came from.

Alice in Wonderland has been a Disney movie classic for a while, but have you read Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland?

How many different adaptations of Tarzan have you seen? The book Tarzan the Terribleis another of the free ebooks available.

Robert Downey, Jr. and Jude Law were in last Christmas’s Sherlock Holmes. If you’ve never read any of those books, some are available on Google ebooks, too.

Lots of Shakespeare, too. The Taming of the Shrew, Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet. Even movies that don’t directly have those titles have storylines based loosely off those classics. The Lion King has lots of similarities to Hamlet.

Now that Google Ebooks has these classics for free, there’s no excuse not to read them!
