Cartoon characters for Facebook: your favorite old cartoon characters

Cartoon characters for Facebook are really taking off, as people are using their favorite cartoon characters for their Facebook profile pictures.

By now you’ve probably seen your fair share of cartoon characters for Facebook – which are your favorite? Are you using a cartoon character for your Facebook profile picture?

A huge variety of cartoon characters are being used on Facebook, because with cartoons of the 70s, 80s and 90s to pull from, there’s no shortage of great childhood cartoons to use.

Do you fancy Hong Kong Phooey (my personal fave), Rugrats, Pink Panther, Strawberry Shortcake, Bugs Bunny, Smurfs or Flinstones?

Cartoon Characters from 80s, 90s: Ren and Stimpy

rent & stimpyRen and Stimpy are the best cartoon characters from 80s or 90s!  How can you not love Ren the psychotic chihuahua? Stimpy the cat is equally as awesome, even if he’s not the sharpest tool in the toolbox.

The Ren & Stimpy Show is a classic (but twisted) cartoon.  The series was first introduced to the world in 1991 on Nickelodeon.  In case you missed out on this cartoon, it’s the story of Ren Höek, an insane chihuahua, and  his roomie, Stimpson J. Cat. Stimpy is a cat who is a good-natured, but low on brains.

Before you run out and get this cartoon for your kiddos, be warned: Ren & Stimpy is a cartoon better suited to older viewers!  The humor of Ren & Stimpy is bizarre and quite repulsive at times.  Common topics in this series involve litterboxes, hairballs, farts, and of course “magic nose goblins”.  This cartoon is way out there but that’s why I loved  it!  That is also why, when the kids aren’t looking, I still watch Ren & Stimpy—and laugh until my stomach hurts.
