Cam Newton Update: He Took No Money From No One, Wiretaps Don’t Link Milton McGregor

College Football tyduffy November 19th. 2010, 11:45am The Newton family’s attorney George Lawson informed everyone* he is “one million percent confident that Cam Newton took no money from no one” and knew nothing about any possible solicitation. Interpret the double negative how you wish. The lost point is it doesn’t matter whether Cam knew about the solicitation or not. If it happened he is ineligible. The NCAA can’t allow “the kid didn’t know about it” defense to become valid precedent. Since the text and voice messages should corroborate Mississippi State’s claims, the only question remaining is whether anything can be tied to Auburn that would lead to punishment beyond this season being vacated. According to Al.com “sources familiar with the statehouse probe,” Federal wiretaps don’t link Milton McGregor to Cam Newton. McGregor’s attorney denies any connection. Neither revelation disputes the meat of the TMZ report , stating that the Feds were looking into whether McGregor was involved. Heisman ballots aren’t due until Dec. 6 . Prediction: Cam Newton won’t be the winner. [ Photo via Getty ] Leave a Reply You must be logged in to post a comment.
