Leslie Nielsen Passes Away
Leslie Nielsen has passed away at the age of 84 after complications from pneumonia. Actor Leslie Nielsen is best known for his roles in Airplane! and The Naked Gun series of movies. Leslie Nielsen was an incredible comedic actor and leaves behind his wife and two daughters.
In addition to his Airplane! and Naked Gun roles, here are five things you may not know about the late Leslie Nielsen:
1. Leslie Nielsen did not get his start in comedy. Before Airplane! and The Naked Gun, he was most well known for his roles in The Poseidon Adventure and Forbidden Planet.
2. Leslie Nielsen was Canadian, and was in the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was too young to be sent into World War II but trained as an aerial gunner.
3. Nielsen started his acting career on television making $75 to $100 per show.
4. Leslie Nielsen was married four times, and his two daughters, Maura and Thea, are from his second marriage to Alisande Ullman.
5. Nielsen was an avid supporter of The Better Hearing Institute, because he suffered from a hearing problem himself.
