Elizabeth Edwards lost her long term battle with cancer this Tuesday and leaves behind not just an estranged husband (John Edwards) and three children but she will be departing to join her son Wade Edwards in the afterlife (if you believe in that sort of thing).
And in her death, the Edwards family asked to remember another fallen Edwards – the before mentioned Wade Edwards – who died when he was just 16 in a tragic car accident.
The family wrote:
“On behalf of Elizabeth we want to express our gratitude to the thousands of kindred spirits who moved and inspired her along the way. Your support and prayers touched our entire family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Wade Edwards Foundation which benefits the Wade Edwards Learning Lab at www.wade.org.”
The Foundation supports the Wade Edwards Learning Lab Raleigh, N.C. which has resources for teens, including after-school computer access.
Many would have thought Elizabeth Edwards and family would have opted for donations to be made to cancer research, but instead, they kept it all in the family. Honoring not one but two Edwards.
“Donations can be made to the Wade Edwards Foundation can be made online, through a PayPal account, or checks can be mailed to 714 St. Mary’s St. Raleigh, N.C. 27605.”
